Denim Dresses!

The day before our last day in Florida was Ave + I in our Denim Dresses! A week before our road trip was Avynn’s 3rd Birthday, and my best friend purchased Ave’s adorable dress + fedora!

On this day, James, Avynn and I explored the neighborhood + fed the horses at the farm! The weather was overcast, and was also the perfect day for us to go thrift-shopping (my fave)!!

I’ve been styling Avynn since birth, and up until now she was always taking her accessories off and even her clothing- this baby hates clothing haha

Now that she’s 3-going-on-13 she loves to wear what “mommy wears” and she loves accessories, especially her shoes.

These lace-up gladiators I am so jealous of! I keep trying to snag a cute pair of lace-ups and they’re always sold out in my size! I believe these ones we grabbed from Target!

She loved this fedora, surprisingly because whenever we let her wear her hair down she usually wants it nice and free, haha

Our first stop of the day, after the farm was a little field next to my grandparents house! The grass was super long so we didn’t stay (I’m terrified for ticks)!

I have had these gladiator sandals since last summer, I snagged them at a shoe store in the Crystal Mall. Notice how she watches everything I do? Haha she wanted her foot up on the fence like mommy!

I wish I would have belted this shirt-dress, but I can’t even try to hide that belly! The denim dress was thrifted-I LOVE this one! Anything collared I snag! Also, my hat + sunnies are from H&M!

Ave’s sunnies are from Children’s Place , and she refused to take off her birthday jewelry from my grandma, haha!
After the field we drove until we saw some pretty palms, because all I’ve wanted for a backdrop was some beautiful pops of color!

Again, I’m teasing myself + readers with these photos. We will be seeing sunny days soon!

All Black + Bicycles

So as you all know, we went on a road trip to Florida last week! As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, originally I wanted to post all of my adventures while down there. However, having a 3 year old now leaves only time to rest when we have some down-time. Instead, I decided to use Instagram + Facebook to leak little previews of our vacation-opposed to full-length blog posts on here.

Now that I am home and have a few days here with Avynn while James is off at work on a small trip, I figure what a perfect time to share now!

Before we left for vacation, I had connected with a local boutique—> Elle G that I love-to collaborate with them and see what they would like to be featured for Spring! I ended up pulling 2 of the cutest dresses with necklaces to match.

Last Monday I dedicated to wearing all black (per usual). We had a decently warm day,and since it wasn’t too hot it was perfect for all black, along with a bike ride around my grandparents community.

We loved putting Avynn in the basket and riding around (especially when she was tired).

This necklace and dress were my 2 faves ! I literally won’t buy a dress or skirt without pockets unless I’m completely in love with it. This dress came with the perfect bonus (having pockets)!!

Spring weather means I whip out all of my hat collection….well who am I kidding, I’m such a hat girl year-round. I feel that Florida screams “Sun hats” so I chose my black sun hat, along with my favorite fringe-y black flats!

I thought the necklace from Elle G was the perfect length, and definitely complimented the vacation-vibes I was going for!

Because of this 18-week pregnant belly, I had to take a rope-belt and make sure to give myself a waist-line, otherwise I would be swimming in it.

How cute is this dress?! I loved the length and the sheerness at the bottom. If I was transforming this outfit to a night-time look, I would add some wedges, a slicked back pony, and a statement necklace.

You can shop this look at —> Elle G , they have 2 locations here in Rhode Island- 1 in Wakefield and 1 right in the Emporium at URI! In the meantime you can visit there page to give them a follow + stay up-to-date on their new arrivals! —> Shop Elle G on Instagram!

In regards to my Hat + cat-eye Sunnies, both are Steve Madden

And these flats were gifted months back, and they’re surprisingly comfortable + from Charlotte Russe

Lastly, one of my favorite lipsticks that I always smack on is my -“Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick” this product is by The Balm Cosmetics! I love love love this matte color! This stays on even after eating and the scent is INSANE. It is in “vanilla mint.” I received this sample in my October Ipsy Glam Bag and I use it atleast 3x a week. My small sample is still over-half!

Hope you enjoyed my little splash of sunshine, hopefully Rhody will be seeing some sunshine soon!

Arts + Crafts w/Ave!

Today was a gorgeous day! James started his second job so he had the car all day, so Ave and I had to improvise! For the past few months I have been home with Avynn, cleaning and keeping ourselves busy. A few weeks ago James and I picked up a bunch of Arts + Crafts so on days when Ave is CRAZY, it would give us something to do!

Today after cleaning out the kitchen, her and I found some old Sunflower seeds (we are all addicted to them). I remembered seeing a cute activity on Pinterest using Sunflower seeds and Construction paper!

All we needed was glue, tape, scissors, construction paper, Sunflower seeds, and Avynn’s hands (to trace) 😉

When I graduated high school and knew I wanted to be an Elementary School teacher I remember being so excited for school activities-and although I no longer desire to teach, I love Arts + Crafts, especially with Ave!

We had fun with flowers today!

From Vaca to Fiancé

I find when I’m in the best mood my words flow easier, so here I am back from Vacation and ready to ‘Journal my Journey.’ Our week in Florida was surprisingly great weather (other than a minor storm before we left). It was great seeing my grandparents, and even better watching Avynn enjoy the Sunshine State!

We had beach days, pool days, and a few days of sightseeing and Aquariums! I packed my laptop and everything to post for you all while down there, however by the end of each day I was so exhausted and in bed by 11 p.m. haha

Instead, I figured I would use my Instagram and Facebook “outlets” to give some sneak previews of some ‘mommy + me’ blogs! Now that Ave is 3 she’s obsessed with copying her momma, so most days we tried to match 😉

Instead of posting one HUGE vaca blog I figured I would start with my most favorite-Engagement Announcement! My Jamesy proposed on our 11 year Anniversary, and now I get to marry my very best friend! After so so soooo many years of ups and downs, we’ve always challenged ourselves to hash out our problems, and learn from our mistakes-which has led us to believe we will spend forever doing so. James decided to most the proposal video on Facebook, and I figured I would just leave it there for you to see instead of double-posting! I re-watch it a million times (can’t believe it’s real).

To all of you readers out there my biggest encouragement is to please please please never take advantage of your loved ones;if anything in 24 years I have learned this lesson over and over. I’m not sure why it took me so long to realize, but I always believed he was too good for me-he IS too good for me. If you find someone who never gives up on you, never let the possibility of losing them come close.

I’ve had so many nice girls from high school and one guy message me this week asking how we found “something so special.” I really didn’t go searching for James, when I least expected it, the one I least expected to “go for,” came to me. I only took the chance and said yes to a movie date, and it’s been since that night, he’s the only one I want now + forever. So many settle for less/deal with things they don’t deserve. I don’t blame those; everyone wants to be cared for. Don’t force feelings. Don’t re-paint true colors. The ones worth it will stay, others will give you a weird gut feeling. Trust your instincts. You’ll know it’s real when no one else-ever, can make you feel that secure.

Cheers to more years!

Pregnant + Prone

Hi all!

Today I hit the 17 week mark in my 2nd pregnancy-journey! Nausea is completely gone, but my mood swings are in full-swing! So what does this mean? Acne!

Growing up I was more fortunate to only have outbreaks around my month. When I was pregnant with Ave however, the first sign that she was indeed a girl was the acne! They say your girls take your beauty ;). Although we don’t find out the sex for 2 more weeks, I can already feel this one is a girl! My skin has been terrible :(. I normally have average skin, not too oily, not too dry. In summertime my skin gets dry, then red and shiny. And now, at 17 weeks pregnant I am SO prone to acne and overly-dry skin. I developed dry patches over these past few weeks, and the struggle is soooo serious, haha.

I decided that before we embark on our last “family-of-3” Vacation tomorrow, I would focus today’s post on skincare. I want to avoid breaking out more, as least as possible, because knowing me I’ll be cooking in the sun all week and don’t want to develop damage.

While I’m sitting here packing for Florida, I decided to share some of my skincare favorites with my mommy followers, or really anyone who is looking for some new products to try! We will call this “Favorites Friday!”

When i’m breaking out like crazy I usually use Be Fine’s Cucumber Facial Mask- because it’s fragrance is Allergen free, and this product has vegetarian proteins! However, seeing how I’m picky and pregnant, i’m getting tired of smelling the cucumber scent lately, mostly since James has been obsessed with applying this cucumber peel-off mask we do at night-time. He says it’s like “peeling off a sunburn.” haha

So instead, today regardless of my breakouts I chose to go with Pores Be Pure by Formula 10.0.6. You can find this scent in “Strawberry +Yarrow,” and other great scents at your local —> ULTA ! Many have been iffy about this product because it does contain fragrance, but with my experience having normal-average skin I have never had issues with it. It goes for around $7!

For my go-to daily exfoliating face wash, I usually rotate between my 2 favorites. My first favorite is Perfectly Posh -Best Face Forever in “Peppermint, Grapefruit Oil + Aloe Vera.” I’m OBSESSED with this product! I’m for anything with exfoliating microbeads but this little guy cools my face in seconds, I highly recommend.

On days where I am rushing, and just want to quickly exfoliate while in the shower, I choose to go with my VASANTI -Brighten Up! This one is still nice because it has tiny micro-crystals that softly scrub, and this is a great Rejuvenator! I feel that a big difference with this product is that I notice a brighter appearance in my face, especially if I need a nice “awoken” look! This product is 99% natural.

So blah blah blah we could talk about the benefits of a trillion face products out there, but I saved my best 2 for last. These were the first 2 products I put in my make-up box for my trip! First is my every day moisturizer- Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel. THIS IS MY BABY!!!! I have always used Neutrogena face products, and for awhile I used lotions and not gel-based moisturizers. This literally quenches my skin and gives that “cool” feeling I’ve been such a fan of! I use this every morning and night. It’s so lightweight and a must-have. I think with extra-bucks from CVS my jar came to around $16. It usually retails for around $20, which is definitely worth the buy because this product spreads out so evenly. Half the time I use the gel that gets caught in the cap-that usually covers my entire face.

Although I use a moisturizer twice a day sometimes I want an extra bit of help throughout the day, which is when I turn to my Mario Badescu– Facial spray. This is infused with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. Roses really don’t smell like poo-poo-oo. 😉 This spray can be used a lot for my Vaca-especially after the sun. Who doesn’t love Aloe?! I’ve also seen this product used as a make-up setter. I highly recommend this as well because to me, many make-up setters I have found to be a little sticky.

So enough with the product talk, I could review a trillion products in my collection. I chose these mainly to let all of you ladies know that while you’re enjoying Spring break, make sure to protect your skin!!!! I was supposed to make this short and sweet….oops.

Let me know if you have any questions about my faves, or feel free to give me your input on ideas for my future faves! Also in case you were wondering, I received 3 out of 5 of my faves in my monthly Ipsy Glam Bag . If there are any of you out there who aren’t members yet-what are you waiting for?! You get a $10 bag every month with triple the value of products. Even for those of you who aren’t huge makeup fans, you can take a survey that will allow you to receive other products, like hair/skin! If I never signed up, I would have never met my fave products, which I now can’t live without!

Okay, time to pack now! Stay tuned for posts this week from our family road trip!

Cooking up Comfort with Kash!

Hello hello!

it’s been a really long time since I’ve written. I’ve really missed it! Writing for me is completely therapeutic. I have been neglecting this “journal,” because I have been on a new journey! I realized that modeling after all was something I did not wish to pursue. I love being on the opposite side of the camera (behind the scenes) and that is where I have been for these past few months! Also just in case you all haven’t heard…James, Avynn, and I are welcoming our 4th family member in late August! It’s funny actually, our due date is a day after my oldest sister’s Birthday, and a day before my youngest. Right in the middle! Talk about a close-knit family right?!

Speaking of family, this was the reasoning behind this post today. Because I am in my second trimester already, I have been having the WORSE appetite, I’m talking donuts, cake, candy…pretty much anything but meat. My family and mid-wife have been concerned; this pregnancy is SO different from my first!

Lately my mom has been helping me a lot with trying to get my appetite back, and it’s been rough. I am hoping I get some sort of Spring fever and start craving some healthy foods!

Also…tomorrow is March 1st-my absolute FAVORITE month of the year. For starters it’s SO sad but such a blessing that our little babe will be turning 3! Also James and I will be hitting a huge 11 year anniversary mark! But something entirely exciting this March is that my best friend will be embarking in a life-changing journey-so my heart could scream right now! Other than the usual celebrations, James and I have decided to visit my Grandparents & take Avynn on her first road trip, and last trip as our little family of 3! And as soon as we are back from our trip, we find out the gender of baby #2…I told you, March is an exciting one!

So enough blabbing already, speaking of my Grandparents and all of this family talk, like I said this was my biggest inspiration to get into tonight’s post. I’m so excited to visit my Grandma, I’ve been missing her cooking, which inspired me to bake a few chicken/turkey pies!

Growing up I honestly despised left-overs. If it wasn’t Chinese left-overs, forget it! Out of all things in my families recipes, this pot pie is a classic favorite of everyone’s! We usually call it Mamma’s Turkey-Pie (because she used to make it with turkey after Thanksgiving).

For me, this dish brings loads of comfort and such a quick preparation-and let me tell you, I need something quick…I’m exhausted! My Grandma was so proud when I texted her a photo of the prepped-pies, and 1 child later, I’m finally getting used to this cooking-thing haha!

This meal has a twist on Shepherds Pie-instead of super-savory, it has a sweet spot! Ask me for the secret 😉
